Sign for Education in Latvian!

Across Latvia from 11 May to 9 June 2011, a signature drive is underway where residents can sign in support of the Constitutional amendments proposed by "Visu Latvijai" and "Tēvzemei un brīvībai"/LNNK, which would mandate teaching only in Latvian in state and municipal schools. We have signed and encourage everyone else not to be idle and to stand up for the rights of the state language!

Signature collection locations and times in Riga:

On Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays including public holidays, residents can sign from 16:00 to 20:00; on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays including public holidays, collection points will operate from 09:00 to 13:00.

In the Riga City Centre district signatures will be collected at Riga State Gymnasium No.3 at Grēcinieku iela 10, Riga Preschool No.200 at Akas iela 1, Riga State Gymnasium No.1 at Raiņa bulvāris 8, Riga Primary School "Valodiņa" at Blaumaņa iela 26, Natālija Draudziņa Gymnasium at Bruņinieku iela 24A and Riga Centre Humanities Secondary School at Krišjāņa Barona iela 97A.

In the Riga Kurzeme district signature collection will take place at the Riga Pārdaugava Executive Directorate at Dzirciema iela 26, Cultural Centre "Iļģuciems" at Lidoņu iela 27, Riga Imanta Secondary School at Kurzemes prospekts 158, Culture and Recreation Centre "Imanta" at Anniņmuižas bulvāris 29, Bolderāja Music and Art School at Stūrmaņu iela 31, the Rīgas Namu Pārvaldnieks "Kurzeme" district office at Melnsila iela 25, and Hotel "Islande Hotel" at Ķīpsalas iela 20.

In the Riga Latgale suburb you can sign at Riga Secondary School No.6 at Aleksandra Čaka iela 102, Andrejs Pumpurs Riga Primary School No.11 at Maskavas iela 197, Riga Secondary School No.25 at Rušonu iela 6, the Rīgas Namu Pārvaldnieks "Pļavnieki" district office at Augusta Deglava iela 106, Riga Sergejs Žoltokovs Secondary School at Vietalvas iela 15, Riga Evening Gymnasium at Gaiziņa iela 1, Riga Secondary School No.72 at Ikšķiles iela 6, Kārlis Videnieeks Riga Secondary School No.77 at Avotu iela 44, and the Riga Eastern Executive Directorate at Daugavpils iela 31.

In the Riga Vidzeme suburb collection points will be established at the administrative building at Brīvības gatve 266, the Rīgas Namu Pārvaldnieks "Juglas nami" office at Brīvības gatve 430A, the "Mežciema namsaimnieks" office at Sergeja Eizenšteina iela 59, the "Purvciema nami" office at Detlava Brantkalna iela 21, the "Valdemāra nami" office at Krišjāņa Valdemāra iela 106/108, the State Social Care Centre "Riga" branch "Ezerkrasti" at Berģu iela 142, and the administrative building at Burtnieku iela 37.

In the Riga Zemgale suburb signatures will be collected at the Riga Pārdaugava Executive Directorate at Eduarda Smiļģa iela 46, Riga English Gymnasium at Zvārdes iela 1, Riga Secondary School No.47 at Skaistkalnes iela 7, the Rīgas Namu Pārvaldnieks "Zemgale" office at Pārslas iela 10 and Valdeķu iela 50, and Riga Nordic Gymnasium at Paula Lejiņa iela 12.

In the Riga Northern district collection points will be at the Riga Northern Executive Directorate at Rūpniecības iela 21, Riga City Gymnasium No.2 at Krišjāņa Valdemāra iela 1, the Rīgas Namu Pārvaldnieks "Vecmīlgrāvis" office at Baltāsbaznīcas iela 52, Riga Preschool No.15 at Gaileņu iela 5, Riga Jānis Poruks Secondary School at Gaujas iela 23, and Children and Youth Centre "Laimīte" at Sarkandaugavas iela 24.
