Brain Teasers: Try to Answer!

An invitation to exercise your mind and answer a few witty questions.

Question 1

Imagine you are taking part in a running race. You are a good fast runner, and you overtake the athlete who is running in second place. What position are you running in now?

Question 2

Add up the following numbers in your head (honestly, without using a calculator). To 1000 add 40, then add another 1000, then add 30 to that sum and another 1000, then add 20 and 1000. Finally, add 10 to the resulting sum. What is the result?

Question 3

Two fathers and two sons were very keen and passionate hunters. One day they all went hunting together and each shot one partridge. Each proudly brought home their catch. Three plump partridges made a fine feast. Wait - why only three? Explain!

If you decided you are now in first place, you are wrong. After all, you only overtook the second athlete, so you now take their place - you are running in second.

Answer 2

Did you get 5000? Then that is the wrong answer and mathematics is not your strong suit. The correct answer is 4100. You can check with a calculator now. ;)
