I am talking about a recipe as a Christmas gift - a recipe as a picture on the kitchen wall. If there is a particularly beloved dish that gets made fairly often and has become a favourite with family members or guests, it can be framed and hung in the kitchen. A recipe presented this way becomes both a part of the kitchen's interior décor and an original gift.
Christmas is fast approaching. It's time to start thinking about gifts for family, close ones, colleagues, friends. I always enjoy making something by hand, so this time I'll show how to make a fragrant decoration from natural ingredients - fairly simply.
Wool roving is a rewarding material from which, much like clay or any other equally pliable substance, you can create little keepsakes in any shape. This time I am using the dry felting technique to make a plump rabbit with a special significance, which I will reveal in the near future - to keep a little air of suspense.
This is one of those things where you can really let your imagination run free. First you need to gather many different small elements - gemstones, ceramic, glass, wood or metal beads, fittings and so on - so you can later combine them successfully. Here I will show an example of how to easily make three different pairs of earrings.
Yet another hobby of mine - sewing various brooches, felting accessories, creating decoupage objects, making jewellery. Here you can browse what has come of it, appraise it, and perhaps spot a piece of jewellery to make your own. All brooches, necklaces and earrings are handmade. Below is a more detailed description of each creation, each of which I have also given a name - personalised, so to speak.
This time we are making labels - decorative cards with an aged effect. An interesting accent for gifts, and also practically useful on jam jars, spice containers or tea caddies.
It turns out that the American Indians were the first to use popcorn - maize kernels popped by heat - as food. Later this "craze" spread throughout America and made its way to Europe. Since 1912 popcorn has been sold in cinemas and is nowadays an inseparable part of them. Given that popcorn is a grain, it would be a healthy food - much like breakfast cereals - if it weren't salted or artificially sweetened. There is salty, there is sweet, and there is popcorn in a beautifully decorated cone. So let's talk about the last one.
As promised, here is another idea for Valentine's Day. This time - flowers that are simple to make, will never wilt, and are sweet to taste. In my opinion, a very universal gift for anyone we want to give love, warmth and joy on this day.
14 February or Valentine's Day has long been a familiar celebration here in Latvia as well. I wouldn't say I'm head-over-heels about such imports as Halloween, Valentine's Day, hen or stag parties, but I am certainly in favour of the fact that there can never be too much love and warmth in everyday life. This time let's make together a board game featuring that indispensable Valentine's Day symbol - hearts.
