The Man-Tess Saga in Sarkandaugava. The Pump.
Man-Tess has become even more brazen and now, along with the usual acetone-like smell which, it turns out, contains benzene and other carcinogenic substances, a constantly humming pump has for several weeks in a row been disturbing the nighttime peace of residents in the nearest buildings in Sarkandaugava.
Despite numerous complaints to Man-Tess management, the State Environmental Service, and other supervisory authorities, Man-Tess has become even more brazen and now, along with the usual acetone-like smell which, it turns out, contains benzene and other carcinogenic substances, a constantly humming pump has for several weeks in a row been disturbing the nighttime peace of residents in the nearest buildings in Sarkandaugava. So, driven by sleeplessness, we went to see what was rumbling, humming, and buzzing throughout the night.
An acetone-like smell was detectable throughout the evening and also in the late evening hours. Around 23:00 a fire engine was spotted in the courtyard of the buildings on Tvaika and Gaujienas Streets - evidently someone's patience had run out again and they had notified the State Fire and Rescue Service. Contrary to Man-Tess's claim that they are not the sole source of the stench, this time I shall take the liberty of disagreeing, as a westerly wind was blowing and in its path there is none other than Man-Tess.
