Alise Mediņa Painting Exhibition "Andalusian Sun"
From 30 March to 30 April, the Spanish Cultural Centre Seneca (Elizabetes iela 18, 3rd floor) will host Alise Mediņa's painting exhibition "Andalusian Sun". Visitors are invited to see two of the most beautiful cities of Andalusia through the artist's eyes - Granada and Seville. Vivid colours, the refined architecture of Andalusia, mysterious courtyards, passionate women, horse-drawn carriages - all this and much more the artist A. Mediņa has sought to capture in her paintings. Most of the paintings were created in the authentic environment of Andalusia, mingling among the Spanish crowd, carefully observing everything around her and absorbing the atmosphere.

Alise describes her painting style: "I am interested in the interplay of light and shadow found in nature, the depth of dimension, different moods and the changeability of nature."
A. Mediņa (1984) began her professional education at Jānis Rozentāls Riga Art Secondary School, then continued developing her talent at the Latvian Academy of Arts, Painting Department, earning a master's degree in art in 2010. Alongside her studies in Latvia, the artist has honed her skills at various plein air sessions in Latvia, Spain and Portugal. She actively participates in exhibitions both in Latvia and abroad, and regularly introduces audiences to her work by holding solo exhibitions.
The exhibition is organised as part of "Spanish Culture Days" in collaboration with the Spanish Cultural Centre Seneca and the Embassy of Spain in Riga. The aim of the exhibition is to promote interest in Spain and Spanish culture, to give people a chance to experience part of that culture right here in Latvia, and to see Andalusia in a somewhat different light.
Admission to the exhibition is free. For more information about opening hours - www.seneca.lv
