For those who want to escape the city bustle and the many events taking place in Riga this weekend, and surrender to the magic of flamenco rhythm, music and dance grace - I recommend attending a concert in Spanish rhythms. On 17 August at Saules laukums in Saulkrasti, guest artists from Spain will perform - flamenco dancer Sandra Cisneros (Málaga) and master of fiery rhythms Francis Nunez. Dancers from the flamenco dance school "Duende" (Riga) will also perform. Free admission!
The mission of social networks is to supplement real life, preserving and transferring communication and socialisation opportunities to the virtual environment. But the virtual environment converged with the real one very quickly - not supplementing it, but merely introducing a new dimension of communication.
Quite recently a mobile phone from a rather unusual manufacturer - Gigabyte - came to my attention at a very attractive promotional price of 99 Ls. Judging by the rather sparse information available on the web, the model only came to market in July 2013.
Last weekend, in honour of our tin/rose wedding anniversary, we decided to head to the northern coast of Estonia to discover the local nature and enjoy the pleasures of a SPA. Having spent several days in Estonia and grown accustomed to its roads and driving culture, on the return journey - re-entering Latvia - there arose an almost irresistible urge to note down a few driving-related peculiarities that, when living here, either slip by unnoticed or simply never occur to one, that things could also be done differently.
This year the Riga City Festival will be celebrated from 16 to 18 August, offering Riga residents and visitors a diverse range of cultural and entertainment options.
For a couple of weeks now, residents of Sarkandaugava, drivers and pedestrians on Tvaika Street have been able to watch drawings taking shape on the wall of the Riga Centre of Psychiatry and Narcology. More precisely - they are words, letters, syllables, illustrated by black-and-white images: flowers, birds, faces.
At the restaurant-pizzeria Zaļais Maksis today, all were warmly welcome who had something stuck at home - something one is fond of but can no longer find a real use for. Both flea market traders and simple Saturday afternoon enjoyers found here an excellent place for trading, relaxation, conversation in a relaxed atmosphere, music, and food.
Rarely does a film with flavour come along. This one has it. Moreover, it can certainly become a favourite among both men and women, as the film balances the tense spy plot with an all-encompassing passion in the sensual scenes between the main characters.
Attention is energy. When someone looks at you with love, they give you food - very refined food. [...] psychoanalysts make use of this need for attention, because a psychoanalyst is a professional provider of attention.
