The magic of Midsummer, one way or another, is always associated with being out in nature, in the countryside, far from the city's bustle, noise, and rush. Walking along a gravelled white country road, you finally raise your eyes to the blue-white skies, hear the trilling of birds, breathe in deeply the sweet scent of meadow flowers, and feel that alongside your body, your soul too is at rest.
Now for the fourth time, the "Strawberry Festival" is being organised in the square by the Spice shopping centre. A certain disappointment came from the fact that there was almost everything except strawberries - dried goods, cheeses, breads, pastries, cherries, raspberries, and other delights. Only three of all the vendors on offer had strawberries. In the end, with a badge and a brochure about how healthy a berry like the strawberry is in one's diet - but without strawberries - we went on our way.
Initially South Africa was of interest for just one attraction - the penguin colony at Boulders Beach. Now another significant aspect has appeared: wines. Although winemaking traditions there are not as ancient as in the good old Europe, South Africa today has claimed an important place and accounts for around 3% of the total global wine market.
This time I decided to gather ideas for simple yet original ways to decorate a home, garden, picnic spot, or romantic evening venue. I think it's always handy to have a few tricks up one's sleeve for creating a festive mood - for yourself and others. What's more, summer is a very accommodating season in terms of materials, weather conditions, and choice of location.
The story of how I became one of the members of the heavy metal - or rather rock - band "RumStoned". In fact what I want to tell is the story of a lovely, successful corporate event that was thematic, carefully planned, interactive - with almost everyone participating, including from all regional offices - and that generated a great deal of positive emotion.
Returning home from the concert, we found that 1,500 shots had been saved to the camera's memory. Some time was needed to choose the best from the good and the very best from the best. The girls' costumes and graceful poses outdid one another - but judge and evaluate for yourselves in the photo gallery below.
The Duende flamenco club's dancers performed various flamenco styles - tangos, seguirias, tientos, alegrias, tanguillo, caracoles, guajiras, rumba, sevillanas. There were also guest dancers Sofija with a flamenco farruca and Anda with a contemporary dance improvisation. Alternating with Spanish rhythms, Argentine tango was also performed, and audiences could watch the sinuous tango dance steps in the performance of two couples - Kārlis and Dace, Aigars and Ginta.
Collecting penguins has been our hobby for many years now. All manner of penguins find their way into this collection, executed in various styles and techniques. Some are bought, some are gifted, and some we make ourselves.
A small glimpse of the DUENDE flamenco dance club concert "Baile y emociones", which took place on 28 May 2011. First part of the overview. Personalities.
The lace that is so characteristic of D&G - but this time not the fatally black and freely falling kind, rather the airily white and vintage white. Floral prints, because the more flowery the better. And something from the flower-power era as well.
