Websites for Flamenco Dance Costumes and Shoes
Since I needed to find a flamenco dance costume and shoes, I browsed quite a few websites in various languages I know somewhat. Looking at various online shops - mostly Spanish ones - I realised it's more cost-effective to buy fabric and find a seamstress right here in Latvia. Finding decent sketches or patterns turned out to be not so easy either. In the end I came across a few websites I'd like to recommend if flamenco or Spanish dance costuming is also one of your interests.
On top of that, descriptions of costume fabric, colour combinations and their suitability for specific flamenco dance styles are scarce. In the end I came across a few websites I'd like to recommend if Spanish dance or dance costuming is also one of your interests.
I liked this site - https://www.deflamenco.com – where the images are of sufficient quality to understand each costume's construction details, and beside each one there is a small simplified sketch and description.

Some good options can also be found and purchased at this site - http://www.esflamenco.com. The images may not be as detailed or high quality, with more of a focus on various accessories.

Costume sketches can also be found here – http://www.colordeflamenco.com

The next challenge is finding suitable dance shoes, the kind that aren't available in Latvian shops (confirmed). They have a specially thickened sole with a non-slip coating and small tacks built into both the toe and heel for stamping. The shoes are usually custom-made (handcrafted by cobblers) from black or coloured leather or suede. Prices in online shops start from 90 EUR upwards.

The classic heel height for these shoes is 5 cm. You can choose the style as you prefer, though personally I think the classic heels look best. Also, be careful with sizing - this site shows how to correctly measure foot length to choose the right size - https://www.deflamenco.com/tiendaflamenco/verShoe1.jsp?cod=1394 (see also „size chart").

Here are two more online shops where you can browse and order dance shoes - http://www.flamencoexport.com/flamenco-best-sellers/flamenco-shoes.html and http://www.gallardodance.com/english.html. So, I plan to place an order and get new dance shoes. Reviews to follow.
