Museum Night 2012

A brief glimpse of a few events at "Museum Night 2012". This year we visited five locations in Riga, also stopping en route at the excellent Georgian wine bar Winiveria in the Quiet Centre (which on this night had transformed into the Noisy Centre) - highly recommended!

A brief glimpse of a few events at "Museum Night 2012". This year we visited five locations in Riga, also stopping en route at the excellent Georgian wine bar Winiveria in the Quiet Centre (which on this night had transformed into the Noisy Centre) - highly recommended!

We began at the ALDARIS brewery, which this year was also open to visitors and welcomed guests with a short but engaging account and a tour of the beer production hall, followed by tastings of beer, kvass, and children's lemonade in the production yard. Beer lovers and the curious came flooding in - on foot and by car - the queue was impressive, and to see where Aldaris is actually made, you had to wait in a queue of at least an hour.

Right next door, DAUDERI attracted a younger audience. Children played various outdoor and table games arranged by the children's and youth centre "Laimīte", alongside the permanent exhibition in the calm and historic Dauderi manor house.

Next came a visit to the STOCKHOLM SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS, with the opportunity to play the "Game of Life." A simple peek into the world of today's students.

At the PHOTO ACADEMY at Zazī Gallery - a slideshow of the best photographs from the competition "Sea and Man" and the opportunity to be photographed if you were dressed in blue.

At the JEWISH COMMUNITY MUSEUM we didn't find a dance event, but we walked through an improvised Red Sea, for which we received a certificate (in this year, or 27 Iyar 5772) and a treat - a piece of unleavened bread, or matza. Plus the permanent exhibition as an interesting testimony to history.

All of this also in photos:
