6 Ideas for Decorating Pumpkins
Unfortunately, this autumn I didn't find the time to get my hands on those orange and palely muted autumn wonders - pumpkins - to make some beautiful decoration for the home. The little decorative pumpkins, gifted and brought from the countryside, are still sitting on the kitchen windowsill. But there is no shortage of decoration ideas. Here are a few. Perhaps they'll come in handy for you ;)
Unfortunately, this autumn I didn't find the time to get my hands on those orange and palely muted autumn wonders - pumpkins - to make some beautiful decoration for the home. The little decorative pumpkins, gifted and brought from the countryside, are still sitting on the kitchen windowsill.
But there is no shortage of decoration ideas. Here are a few, collected from my favourite image aggregator Pinterest.com.
1. A black-and-white idea for a large pumpkin. Print images on thin paper and use ordinary PVA glue to cover the pumpkin in a collage of black-and-white images. The photo shows baby pictures, but for Halloween you could use much witchier or spookier ones.
2. A pumpkin can also be dressed up with autumnal flowers that are sturdy enough to last a long time, stay fresh, and delight the eye. Flower buds can be attached simply by pushing decorative pins through them and into the pumpkin's rind.
3. This third idea is very much in the spirit of The Addams Family. A pale pumpkin or patty-pan squash wrapped in black lace fabric. Fits perfectly in a vintage interior.

4. Brightly orange pumpkins of various sizes can be decorated with black decorative ribbons or narrow black-and-white adhesive tape, available for example at Tiimari.
5. A pumpkin can be covered with special glitter glue. However, a much cheaper and more eco-friendly option is possible - ordinary paper glue and rolling in coarse cooking salt. The result looks like a frost-covered pumpkin.
6. A whole pumpkin, or oak leaves gathered on an autumnal walk, can be coated with spray-on durable gold paint, available at art supply shops. The gilded leaves will stand out beautifully against a white pumpkin, while a small pumpkin that is fully or half gilded can have a narrow black ribbon or natural-toned raffia tied around its stem.
