Hofbräuhaus München
If you're spending even just one night in Munich (Germany), head to the Hofbräuhaus München tavern in the evening. There you can enjoy classic German sausages or even a whole pork knuckle, a salty pretzel, and of course sip Bavarian beer from 1-litre steins carried 8–10 at a time by nimble bar staff. The massive wooden tables are struck with a loud thud after every toasted pint, calling for a refill. At any time of year, on any ordinary weeknight, you can experience the spirit of Oktoberfest.

At first the unusual noise level and the enormous size of the establishment - impossible to take in at a single glance - might be a bit overwhelming. Bear in mind that you don't so much tell the barman your order as shout it to be heard.
The place is also known colloquially as Hitler's pub, though the owners themselves make no effort to promote this connection - in fact, they distance themselves from the historical fact that Adolf Hitler held his very first impassioned meetings here in the early days of his activities.
