A Captivating Day at the Beverīna Wooden Sculpture Park and Labyrinths

Thanks to an invitation from friends to a boy's birthday celebration, we discovered a new place for an exciting weekend - both for adults and children. The Beverīna Wooden Sculpture Park and several labyrinths in the open countryside, 11 km from Valmiera in the direction of Smiltene along the P-18 highway.

Yesterday was a day that turned out wonderfully. The perfect time to spend a day outdoors - picnicking, viewing something interesting, getting to know new people and places. This time we headed towards Valmiera, where not far away an enthusiast has created and maintains a wooden sculpture park and labyrinths - a horror forest, a small meditative one, and a naughty one (18+).

There is no shortage of activities for children or adults alike - swings, a trampoline, agility and intellectual games, walking trails, rocking chairs, outdoor bowling with large rolling wooden balls, target shooting and throwing at cans, balance logs, wooden fish "fishing," a penguin maths game, assembling Latvia from large wooden puzzle pieces, "sock drying," as well as the many sculptures arranged around the pond at the centre of the grounds and in every corner. Figures familiar and beloved by all - the Flintstone and Simpson families, Teletubbies, little devils and witches, Minions, and much else besides.

In short, not everything can be described in words - one must simply go and experience it. But we can offer a small photo glimpse.
