Short Messages from the Yacht Deck

15.06.2008. 19:40 Ruhnu island turned out to be very small. Apart from the church and the lighthouse there is nothing else. There are seals! We spotted them from a distance. If we find a map, tomorrow we'll go to Saaremaa, then to Ventspils.

We are on Ruhnu island. The little fish have been fed :) We are drinking beer at the tavern. [..]

The beer is not that tasty ... We will explore the island tomorrow. For now even the ground beneath our feet is swaying.

We have moored at Kuressaare (Saaremaa), though the harbour sign reads - Roomassaare sadam. Tomorrow we depart for Ventspils.

Well, our plans have changed again. :( [..] For now there is no wind at all, we are living along the coast. We rented a car and drove around the island.

We are currently at 58 13 014 N, 22 30 384 E. I hope I copied that down correctly. Tomorrow at 11:00 we set off for Gotland, Färö island. 120 nautical miles, 24 hours ...

We are stuck in Kuressaare, as a strong wind is blowing. :( Theoretically we will go tomorrow, early in the morning. We walked around the fortress.

[..] We discovered Kiss cider, and with that we are passing the time. On the island practically any establishment has free internet. It doesn't reach as far as the yacht, of course, but we can check the weather forecast. We are baking potatoes. Yesterday we learned to raise a sail. All manner of staysails, mainsails, halyards ...

We are on Gotland, no idea exactly where ... We sailed for 27 hours. Now we've had a little nap and will set off to look for a hedgehog. :)

We are stuck on Gotland. The wind is blowing directly against us. We can't reach Christiansø island in time, nor Öland island (which is closer), because of the wind. I arranged a car with Björn. On Monday favourable wind is forecast for the journey to Pāvilosta.

Greetings from three little hares that ran across our path. :) We rounded up the yachts from Australia and Germany for a shared sauna, and now we are heading there. Greetings from Björn!
