French Contemporary Art Exhibition "Kramplauzis"

At Riga Art Space, until 20 November, the French contemporary art exhibition "Kramplauzis" is on view, with a total of 78 works on display - paintings, photographs, installations, video and audio art objects. This Sunday we spent an hour and a half exploring the work of 56 French artists. The works were created between 1992 and the present day. Some are especially striking.
For example, Isabelle Leminas's installation "Repetition" (2009) - a wall of photographs of various sizes, attached face against the wall; the viewer can see either the slightly yellowed reverse, or a note or memory written in pencil or pen. From a distance, the word MORE can be read.
Slightly unsettling, but certainly attention-grabbing, is Damjēns Derublē's large-format (268×410) painting "The Fall" (2010). Placed almost at the centre of the exhibition on the floor is a forged steel branding iron of a size that would suit a titan-sized person, but the message is clear enough: Keep warm burn out the rich.
But more in the photographs and in person on site.
