A couple of ideas for making Easter greeting cards by hand, using medium-weight cardstock in various colours, cotton thread and colourful wooden buttons as your base. One evening of activity and cheerfully spring-like cards are ready!

The first card, "Think Bright Thoughts!", is made from a rectangular piece of light green cardstock, with its edges stitched in a machine-stitch pattern using yellowish thread.

Then cut out light blue and white cloud silhouettes and glue them one on top of the other to create a shadow and depth effect. Next, arrange buttons in a semicircle between the clouds in rainbow colour order - red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet.

Sew on the buttons so that both free ends of the thread are on the same side after passing through the button holes. Tie and trim. Below the "rainbow" write the greeting text with a white permanent marker.

The second card, "Happy Easter", is made from a roughly square piece of pink cardstock, with its edges stitched or simply marked with a machine stitch. Cut out two rabbit silhouettes from greyish paper and glue them onto the cardstock.

Sew a red button in the upper corner of the card and draw rays around it like an Easter sun. Make small tails from white cotton wool tufts and glue them onto the rabbits. Write the greeting text and the card is ready!

Wishing everyone a bright, sunny and happy Easter!
