Recruiter Stories #4: But They Only Pay a Thousand

I open Facebook Business Manager to assess the return on sponsored vacancy results, look at the "likes" statistics and comments. Replies must be given to the latter, and I also need to understand whether the vacancy layout and text are positioned correctly.

On one of the most recent sponsored job advertisements there is a biting comment: "Ha, they're still looking. Well, good luck!" and also a reply: "That's exactly why they've been looking so long - because they're not offering more than a thousand." It leaves a bad feeling. Oh, so a thousand turns out to be such a paltry sum, yet here I am still battling with employers and demanding that they speak openly and aren't afraid to indicate salary levels in advertisements.

To be able to pay out 1,000 euros, the employer needs almost 1,800 euros, if one counts all the taxes. I recall that around the year 2000, 250 was a pretty good salary, but today at least 2,500 euros is "a dignified salary" (I'm quoting some commenter again). Hmm, where did life become so expensive?!

Interesting - what do we spend it on? Do we buy what we need, or do we buy what we need for others, so they think we need it? Somewhere recently I read that the 2,500 euro threshold is the point beyond which it makes no difference at all whether you earn 3,000 or 30,000 a month, because there is already enough for everything necessary.
