The Addams Family Idyll
What fascinates me is this family's idyll - the romance-filled relationship between the head of the household Gomez and his wife Morticia, the tenderness and love shielded from the influence of passing years and the judgements of surrounding society. This little family seems to exist outside the daily rush, pettiness, materialism and the changes of the surrounding world.
The story of the eccentric Addams Family (The Addams Family) began as a series of cartoons drawn by American cartoonist Charles Addams (Charles Addams, 1912–1988), which later became a television series (1964), a popular feature film (1991, 1993), then video games, advertising characters, and so on. It experienced its first wave of popularity in the 1930s.

Why did I choose to write about this family? What fascinates me is this family's idyll - the romance-filled relationship between the head of the household Gomez and his wife Morticia, the tenderness and love shielded from the influence of passing years and the judgements of surrounding society. This little family seems to exist outside the daily rush, pettiness, materialism and the changes of the surrounding world. Their core values are family and their own peculiar, to many unacceptable, worldview.

The Addams family owns an old Gothic mansion with mystery-shrouded cellars, underground passages and torture chambers. A home garden with withered climbing plants and ancestral graves. Despite the sinister inheritance, the Addams household is always filled with merriment, eccentric humour, total mutual trust, sentimentality, and fearless facing of life's difficulties.
A brief word about the main family members.
The head of the Addams family, Gomez, is always in a dapper suit, with neatly groomed black moustache, a cigar and refined manners. By origin a passionate and hot-blooded Castilian.

His beloved Morticia - slender, graceful, imperturbably calm. Her pale skin, long, form-fitting black dress and blood-red lips are reminiscent of something at once aristocratic and vampiric. Morticia's Gothic fashion style seems to inspire fashion designers even today.

Grandmama - an experienced witch who can brew various magic potions.
The mansion's butler, gardener and chauffeur all in one - Mr. Frankenstein (Lurch).
The family's two offspring. The daughter, Wednesday - visually similar to her mother, with coal-black hair braided neatly in two pigtails and a penchant for executioner games; her favourite toy, with which she goes to bed each night, is a doll with a severed head. The boy, Pugsley - a plump little fellow and the victim of his sister's peculiar games.
Gomez's brother - Fester Addams, who inspires dread in everyone both with his appearance - bald head, stocky frame, dark-ringed eyes - and with his skill in masterfully wielding various instruments of torture.
Thing - a peculiar family member, a disembodied hand that lives in the Addams home and follows the household members wherever they go like a faithful dog.
