2016 Will Be a Leap Year
Looking at next year's calendar, one can conclude that it will have one more day than this year. That is to say, 2015 has 365 days, while 2016 will have 366. So next year is a so-called leap year.
Since the Gregorian calendar was introduced on 15 October 1582 (as it applies to Latvia) - that is, since time began to be counted according to the new style - a leap year has 29 days in February instead of 28. This repeats every four years.
A leap year can be identified by whether the number formed by the last two digits of the year is divisible by 4 without a remainder. If so, it is a leap year. For example, 2008 was a leap year because 8 is divisible by 4 without a remainder. The next leap year after that will be 2020, because 20, just like 16, is divisible by 4 without a remainder.
